Simon graduated from the University of Glasgow with an Honours degree in Zoology (animal behaviour). During his career he has amassed 24 years’ experience in handling police dogs for various disciplines and has a wealth of expertise in training instruction and the management of police dog units.
As a keen, high level competitor Simon has won numerous competitions, including the 50th Anniversary UK National Police Dog Trials with Police Dog Champion Ralph and has received a Chief Constable’s Commendation for outstanding achievement. He has also competed on the world stage for Great Britain at the FCI Utility Dog World Championships.
Recently, Simon’s innovative approach to utilising detection dogs to combat crime led to a pioneering project to train Cadaver Dogs to search for remains of persecuted protected species and the deployment of the first Wildlife Crime Dog of its kind in the UK.
