Mike Vergon, IAAI-CFI, owns and operates Vergon and Associates Fire Investigation, based in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. He specializes in fire and explosion scene investigation, consulting, providing expert witness testimony, and training and presentation. He is a retired ATF Special Agent Certified Fire Investigator and was also a member of ATF’s prestigious National Response Team. He retired from ATF, in October 2012. Mike has been a certified fire investigator for 25 years. He has been a fire investigation instructor at the ATF National Academy, at the National Center for Explosives Training and Research, at the National Fire Academy, and at the International Law Enforcement Academy, in Budapest, Hungary. He has also been a keynote speaker at the International Association of Arson Investigators, International Training Conference, and he has provided numerous training presentations to various public and private organizations nationally and internationally. Mike continues to be active in several professional organizations and has served as state chapter president of IAAI, state chapter president of the Indiana Arson and Crime Association, and state chapter president of the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators.

Mike’s experience has included the investigation of numerous large, multi-million dollar loss fires and explosions, numerous fire fatality scenes, the investigation of complex, multi-defendant arson-for-profit cases, and the investigation of serial arsonists and bombers. He has received numerous awards and commendations, including ATF’s Distinguished Service Medal, for his work in fire investigation.
