General Pierluigi Solazzo was born in Carmiano (LE) on February 8^th, 1969.  He attended the Military Academy of Modena and the Carabinieri Officer’s School in Rome.

He graduated in Law, International and Diplomatic Sciences and in Internal and External Security Sciences. Then, he qualified as a lawyer and obtained Masters degree in Strategic-Military International Studies and in Security and Organisational Sciences. He attended, as a Lieutenant Colonel, the 12^th Advanced Staff Course and the 11^th Course for Legal Advisor in International Humanitarian Law at the Centre for Advanced Defence Studies.

He is proficient in English and Spanish.

In the rank of Lieutenant, he was Platoon Commander at the Scuola Marescialli in Florence and at the Military Academy in Modena.

In the rank of Captain, from 1997 to 2000, he was the Imola (BO) Carabinieri Company  Commander, and from 2000 to 2003 he was in charge of the Fasano (BR) Carabinieri Company.

As a senior officer, in the ranks of Major and Lieutenant Colonel, he was Head of the 1 ^th Analysis and Planning Section of the “Operations” Office, at the General Carabinieri Headquarters.

Furthermore, as Lieutenant Colonel, he held the position of Commander of the Carabinieri Group of Monreale (PA), with jurisdiction over the historical strongholds of the mafia in the Province of Palermo.

As a colonel, he directed for over two years the Operational Room of the Carabinieri General HQ, which coordinates the Armed Forces' operations and provides information to the Top Authorities.

Subsequently, he was in the staff of the Deputy General Commander of the Carabinieri Corps.

From 2018 to 2021, he was the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri in Bologna.

Since September 2021, he is the Chief of the Operations Office of the Carabinieri General Headquarters.
